Snowed In

Is anyone else enjoying the two-day break from classes? I know I sure am. It feels like a second winter break and I am here for it. I was kind of skeptical when everyone was gearing up for a giant winter storm. I mean some weather reports were saying were might only get an inch or two of snow. That was definitely wrong! I am so grateful to have been at home (I'm a commuter!) and able to spend more time with my family and catch up on some assignments or get ahead to prepare for the busy semester to come.

What has everyone else been doing during this four-day sort of weekend since everything has been getting cancelled?

My family and I spent a lot of time shoveling. When they plowed our street, our driveway got blocked in and it was so windy every morning I would wake up and the snow would be blown all over the driveway again. I heard on campus people's cars were getting stuck so I will take what I can get. And it was worth it for a couple of days off. We also dug a little loop for my dog to run through when he goes outside since he is a little smaller. He was enjoying running through it yesterday when it was still snowing. This was him this morning and the snow is practically as tall as him.

More fun activities were that we made cinnamon rolls and watched a couple of movies. My mom and I are suckers for a really cheesy Hallmark movie. My family and I are also rewatching The Big Bang Theory for about the millionth time. Does anyone have any good movie or show recommendations? I finished The Summer I Turned Pretty over break so I'm looking for something new and I'm too chicken to watch Stranger Things.

I also feel like this week; all the clubs are starting to kick off again. I already have a few general meetings to go to and I know there are more to come. I'm sure I'm not alone when I say it's a little overwhelming to realize all the things you signed up for in the fall but I'm super excited to start working on all the new projects and to see some of my friends that I don't have classes with this semester. Also, I feel like classes are starting to pick up too, despite the days off. We already have a presentation due in one of my classes. Homework and all I'm still excited to see where this semester goes!

  2. Hi Aubrey! I also was skeptical when everyone was freaking out about the weather because I know there have been times where everyone freaks out and we get barely any snow and there have been times where a ton of snow has just come out of nowhere. I agree with you though that these past few days off has felt like a mini or extra winter break! Just like you I used them to get caught up and organized with all my assignments and new classes for the semester and it was refreshing to not feel extremely overwhelmed and actually have lots of time to get everything done. I hope you enjoyed your days off!

  3. Hi, Aubrey! I completely understand being nervous about the snow. It's crazy the amount we got in such little time! I am glad you are involved here on campus, and I can't wait to see the great things you do this semester!
