Who Else Is Ready For Spring Break?
Who else is ready for spring break?
🙋
I know I am. These past few weeks, everything for the new
semester has kicked off, and I feel like I am running from one activity to the
next. Clubs are working to elect new officers, competition work is due, the
first round of exams is starting and my Google Calendar keeps filling up with multi-colored time blocks.
Although many things are happening now, I like to keep a
positive attitude as best I can. I am one of those people who likes to keep a
busy schedule, and the challenge is balancing everything so that I do not miss
a club meeting and still complete all my homework. I heard some advice the
other day that helped my mindset, which was that each task was not another thing to do but
a break from something else. For example, a club meeting would be a break from
homework, and going to work would be a break from club duties.
I honestly wish I heard this advice in high school. I
recently helped at Orange and Black Day, where I talked with accepted high
school students and answered their questions about college and what it is like
here at ONU. It made me realize how much fun college is, despite the busy
schedule. High school feels mostly like the same constant routine, but in
college, every day is different, and that is something I really enjoy. Getting
stuck in a routine makes things boring for me personally, so having different
classes every day about things I enjoy makes it harder to get bored or burnt
out. However, that also makes life a little hectic. I have never been more
grateful for my planner.
Continuing to explain little bit more about Orange and Black Day, I never went
to an Orange and Black Day when I was accepted to ONU. I had been to campus enough
that I did not feel like I needed to go, but after attending one, I kind of
wish I had. I was able to meet many new students and help answer some of their
questions and ease some of their worries about college and what it is like to
be a student here. I gave them tips and explained what classes were like. I enjoyed engaging with them and playing games to get to
know them more than I thought I would.

That is amazing advice! I agree that things seem to be ramping up a bit this week. But spring break is right around the corner; we got this!
ReplyDeleteHi Aubrey! That is a really great mentality and advice. I am also very much looking forward to spring break and am excited that it is coming up. Good luck with these next couple weeks!
ReplyDeleteAubrey, I immediately read the title and said yes! These last couple of weeks have definitely been exhausting and busy so I'm right there with you. This advice is really unique. I like it! Continue to push through his remaining week and a half, you got it!
ReplyDeleteWhat you said about the routine really stuck with me. As much as I feel overwhelmed with all the different ways my day can go, I am very blessed to have an exciting life over a boring, routine life. One might be more efficient, but we weren't put here to be efficient!
ReplyDeleteHi Aubrey!! I agree these last few weeks have been a lot and very stressful. We only have a few more days!! I hope you have a good break and finish off the next few school days strong!
