At What Age Is It Proper To Stop Sending Snapchats?
I remember getting Snapchat as a middle schooler, and I was
so excited to message my friends. I am embarrassed to admit that as soon as I
got it, I was hooked. I spent all day checking it and snaping with my friends.
I had so many streaks going. I also watched all the stories and highlights.
Little did I know, I basically let myself watch commercials all day while
waiting for my friends to respond. As I have gotten older, I use the app much
less, getting on it at most once a week, but there are still a few people with
whom I stay connected on Snapchat.
Surprisingly, Snapchat marketing can be very effective. It
is not quite as popular as Instagram, especially since the app is mostly used
by a younger population. However, I know many students my age who continue to
keep a Snap streak with their friends and use the app regularly. Since Snapchat
is predominantly used by the younger generation, many companies that have
products targeted at a younger audience take advantage of the advertising
opportunities on the app. Snapchat reported that people who use the app
regularly open it 30 or more times per day, and 76% of users have purchased
products from a Snapchat ad. Snapchat also has a sense of urgency as posts are
only available for a limited amount of time, so users are likely to engage
regularly with the app. Trendy products also perform well with the algorithm.
In social media marketing, it is vital to understand how
each platform can be used for advertising or engagement. Some ways Snapchat can
be utilized in a social media campaign are to create AR lenses or contests.
Brands can highlight landmarks, like their store, restaurant or office, by
creating AR lenses unique to them. For example, Wendy’s could make a Snapchat
filter or game that matches their brand, which only appears on your Snapchat
while at a Wendy’s location. Another way is to hold contests or ways to
interact with the brand itself. This can be accomplished by requiring users to
post Snaps at specific locations or of specific things, while tagging the brand
to receive something.
Snapchat is not as popular as Instagram, but it can be used
in multiple ways in social media marketing.

This is such a real topic that is not talked about enough: Snapchat streaks. It used to be such an effective way to break the ice with someone that you wanted to talk to, but now, if I receive a black screen with an s drawn on it, it's a huge sign of immaturity.
