Honors Day

This past Tuesday, I had the opportunity to attend multiple honors day events. I was super excited to not have any classes, but I still had to be at Dicke bright and early for the Business Ceremony. There I met two of my friends so that we could attend the event together. We were all a little confused and nervous because none of us had been to the event before, and we were not quite sure how the awards worked and where we were supposed to be exactly. In the end, it all worked out well, and the event was even fun. We had the opportunity to watch many upperclassmen receive awards for service and leadership, as well as many club and honorary inductees. It was cool to be there as a freshman because we were able to see the kinds of awards and scholarships that the business school has and learn more about the multiple honoraria.

After the business ceremony, I had a long break, so I could go home and spend some time with my dog. I do not normally get to see him during the day, so it was really nice to take him on a walk and spend some time with him.

Next, I headed back to campus to be inducted into an honorary. It was so cool, especially because my sister was also inducted, and we are not normally in any organization together since she is a biology student. Then, after being inducted, we rewarded ourselves with Subway and studied until our last induction ceremony. This was another bonus as we were both also getting inducted into it. Our dad even drove up to see us and to listen to the speaker.

When he was in school, honors day was mostly for seniors, so he was curious to see what it is like now. Our last ceremony was the longest we had that day because there were two speakers and a few other awards given along with our induction. After the ceremony, there was a dessert where we visited with some of our friends before heading back home.

I was very grateful to be able to attend some honors day events as a first-year student and had so much fun attending each one. I am so glad I was able to see so many upperclassmen I knew receive awards for their hard work, and that I could learn more about the organizations on campus.
